Franck Sauzée said he felt "sad" and "disappointed" after being sacked yesterday as manager of the struggling Scottish Premier League club Hibernian.
"I'm really sad because I love this club," said the Frenchman, who has been dismissed after only two months in charge.
"I feel I was not given enough time. I think I had just eight or nine weeks."
The Edinburgh club said the former France international, who replaced the Rangers-bound Alex McLeish on 14 December, had been asked to stand down following the club's poor run of results in recent weeks.
"The decision has been taken with great sadness and regret," Hibernian said. "However, a string of disappointing results and poor performances have resulted in the club sliding to an unacceptable position in the league table."
Hibernian finished in third place last season but are currently second from bottom, having won only five of their 29 matches this season. They failed to win any of their 11 league games under Sauzée and won only once in 15 matches in all competitions under the Frenchman.
Their No 1 target to replace Sauzée is said to be the Kilmarnock manager, Bobby Williamson.
