Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has revealed that the club’s Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has a €20m buy-out clause in his contract.
Since Huntelaar joined the German club he has hit the goalscoring form that first put him on the map with Ajax.
After disappointing spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan, Huntelaar has found the net 29 times in 32 Bundesliga appearances this season.
This scintillating form has reignited the interest of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United, all of whom have pursued him before.
Of his club's star striker Heldt told Bild: "Huntelaar does have a €20m buyout clause, and a rich club can afford it.
"But, Klaas-Jan has always stressed that he wants to be a champion. This he can be only with Real or Barcelona in Spain.
"I do not think he wants to go there. What would he do there? Since nothing more than the weather is better."
Interest in the striker is sure to increase following today's revelation. Despite Heldt's optimism that he will stay the German club will be concerned they will lose their star player this summer.
