Liverpool have made a bid for Southampton's World Cup midfielder Adam Lallana, according to reports.
Lallana excelled for the eight-placed Saints in the Premier League this season, scoring nine goals and making six assists, and was named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad for Brazil today.
The 26-year-old spoke of his ambition to play in the Champions League in Southampton's pre-match programme for their final Premier League match of the season against Manchester United last Sunday. Liverpool, of course, finished in second place and have automatically qualified for Europe's elite competition next season.
"I'm ambitious," he wrote. "I want to one day play in the Champions League."
Lallana is joined in the England squad with his club-mates Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw.
