Adnan Januzaj to Borussia Dortmund: Manchester United winger in 'advanced talks' over loan as Anthony Martial nears £36m move

Januzaj is one of only two United players to score in the Premier League this season but looks to be on his way to Germany

Despite being one of only two men to score for Manchester United in this season's Premier League, Adnan Januzaj is in "advanced talks" to leave the club on a season-long loan with German side Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga club face stiff opposition to land the young prospect, with Sky Sports claiming that Everton, Tottenham, Marseille and Valencia are all interest in the 20-year-old.

Despite scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa earlier this month, Januzaj appears to be surplus to Louis van Gaal’s requirements this season, with the United manager willing to let him leave in what looks to be a move to guarantee him more first-team football.

However, only Januzaj and Juan Mata have scored for United in their four Premier League games to date, with the Spaniard’s coming in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea in which Januzaj was left out of the matchday squad due to what was described by the club as a hip injury.

Having been given his first-team debut in the 2013/14 Community Shield by former manager David Moyes, Januazaj has so far failed to tie down a regular first-team berth despite a handful of very impressive performances. The arrival of Van Gaal looked to dent the Belgium international’s chances in the first team, with the former Anderlecht midfielder making just seven starts in the Premier League last season on his way to 18 appearances in total in a season where he failed to register a single goal.

Having missed the season-opening victory over Tottenham – which came via a Kyle Walker own-goal – Januzaj started the Friday night encounter with Villa in which he scored the only goal of the game before being replaced after an hour.

The performances saw him handed starts in United’s next three games, the 0-0 draw with Newcastle plus both legs of the Champions League play-off victory over Club Brugge, although he departed the second leg at half-time through injury that forced him to miss Sunday’s loss at the Swansea.
