Alexandre Pato to Liverpool: Reds join Manchester United and Chelsea in the hunt for Brazil striker

Liverpool have reportedly re-joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Alexandre Pato.

The 26-year-old is likely to leave Brazilian side Corinthians this January as they try to get the former AC Milan striker off their wage bill.

Pato recently spent a spell on loan at Sao Paulo, where he scored 19 goals in 59 appearances, but is keen to return to Europe.

According to reports in Italy, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in meeting his £11m valuation this month.

Chelsea, United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the former Brazil international since the summer, but Liverpool supposedly have the momentum.

Daniel Sturridge, Dicock Origi and Danny Ings have all suffered injuries in recent weeks, emphasising the German’s need for reinforcements up front.

Pato is quoted as saying: "I like the emotion in the English league. You look at the TV and you see the stadium and the fans. I remember that when we played Arsenal, they were very strong and very fast. My special thing is my speed. I’m fast. I think that’s good because the football here is very quick.

"I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. When you get the ball, you need to be ready. The defenders here are very tough but I like that. I have spoken to Willian, Firmino, Coutinho and David Luiz before.

"I think Brazilian players can play here. You mix talent and intelligence and Brazilian players can play here."
