Premier League transfer round-up: Latest deals from the January window

Alexis Sanchez has been left out of Arsenal’s squad to face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium today, fuelling speculation that his transfer to Manchester United is imminent.

Arsenal host Palace in the Premier League today, needing to win to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Arsene Wenger said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture that he would include Sanchez in his matchday squad if his move to Manchester United had not yet been completed, but the Chile international was conspicuous by his absence when Arsenal named their team ahead of kick-off.

The Independent understands that Sanchez is ready to sign for United, but that Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move in the opposite direction has held up the deal.

The fine details of Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford were finalised on Wednesday, with the Chilean set to sign a contract until 2022 that will give him wages of over £400,000.

United have also agreed to pay agents’ fees of up to £10m that both Manchester City and Chelsea balked at.

However, Mkhitaryan’s wage demands are believed to have allowed down the deal, with both clubs wanting to announce the two players at the same time.

In better news for Arsenal, Mesut Ozil will return to the side after recovering from the knee injury that has kept him side-lined since the club’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the start of the year.
