Ander Herrera to Manchester United: Athletic Bilbao reject £29m bid for star midfielder
Spanish club confirms it has turned down offer

Manchester United's move for Ander Herrera has suffered a major setback after Athletic Bilbao confirmed it has rejected a £28.85 million offer for the midfielder.
United have renewed their interest in the player this summer having failed to sign the 24-year-old last year – but have seen a fresh bid for the player rebuffed.
An Athletic statement read: "Athletic want to announce that they have this week rejected an offer from Manchester United, of around 36million euros (£28.85million), for the transfer of the economic and federative rights of the player Ander Herrera."
Manchester United endured a torrid summer in 2013, as they failed to sign any of their major targets - most notably Cesc Fabregas.
Herrera can play in centre midfield or behind the striker and weighed in with five goals and five assists as Athletic qualified for the Champions League, finishing fourth.
He has 15 caps for Spain's Under-21s and five more for the Under-23s, but has not yet made an appearance in Vicente del Bosque's first team.
Herrera has also been linked with Barcelona and Chelsea this summer. The reject comes somewhat as a shock, given that Herrera had been spotted in Manchester this week suggesting confirmation of a transfer was imminent.
As well as being a creative force and good from set-pieces, Herrera is strong in the tackle and not afraid of doing the dirty work, which United's midfield looked desperately short of last season as they suffered a dismal season in finishing seventh in the Premier League.
