Louis van Gaal has refused to deny that Manchester United are in talks to sell Angel Di Maria to PSG, cryptically saying that the move is " a process".
After United's 3-1 pre-season friendly victory over San Jose Earthquakes in America last night, Van Gaal was asked if the clubs had begun negotiations, to which he replied:
"I cannot answer that. It is a process. When we think we have to say something we will."
Recent reports state that PSG want to secure the deal before Saturday, when Di Maria, who signed for United for a British-record £59.7m last summer, joins up with his United team-mates in the US. PSG are also in America, however, and the teams play each other in Chicago on 30 July.
Di Maria struggled at Old Trafford after a bright start to his career in England, failing to make it into van Gaal's starting XI in the final three months of the season.
The 27-year-old almost moved to PSG last summer before agreeing a move to United, but the French club were unable to afford him because of Financial Fair Play restrictions and the earlier £50m move for Chelsea defender David Luiz.Reuse content
