Aquilani exits Anfield and heads to Fiorentina
Fiorentina have signed Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani for a reported fee of £5.5m.
The 28-year-old Italian arrived at Anfield from Roma in August 2009 for £17m but his time on Merseyside was badly affected by injury. He was unable to establish himself in the team, making just 28 appearances for the club. He has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, firstly at Juventus and then Milan.
Despite good performances for both teams, in particular during his time in Turin, neither club took up the offer to buy him and he returns to Serie A as a member of Vincenzo Montella's new-look Fiorentina.
