Arsenal transfer latest: Carl Jenkinson a transfer target for West Ham - reports

Sam Allardyce keen after Mathieu Debuchy moved to the Gunners

West Ham United are chasing a deal for Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson, according to reports.

With Mathieu Debuchy officially arriving in north London from Newcastle on Thursday, Sam Allardyce is keen to push through a move for the 22-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

Allardyce is reported to be keen on either a one-year loan or a permanent move for Jenkinson, who has one England cap.

Swansea and Newcastle are also interested in Jenkinson, but he is from Harlow, Essex, and may prefer to stay close to London.

However, Arsene Wenger may prefer to keep Jenkinson in the same reserve role he played last season. With Bacary Sagna departed for Manchester City, Debuchy would be the only senior right back in the Gunners squad should Jenkinson also leave.

Jenkinson was also a huge Arsenal fan growing up and is believed to be happy playing a back-up role in the squad.
