Loic Remy to Arsenal? Gunners close in on move for QPR and France striker - reports

Arsene Wenger said to be chasing the Spurs target

Arsenal are chasing Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy for £8m, but still have work to do to complete a deal, according to reports.

The France striker, who scored 14 goals on loan at Newcastle last season, has long been linked with a move to the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger a known admirer.

First choice striker Olivier Giroud started the season well for Arsenal last term, but slowed considerably with no other recognised striker to ease the burden.

Get West London report that talks have taken place between the two clubs this week, with Arsenal closing in on a deal for the 27-year-old.

Remy is now back in the UK after his return from World Cup duty with France but personal terms are still to be agreed.

However, QPR owner Tony Fernandes is keen to keep Remy as he bids to keep the Hoops in the Premier League following promotion.

Should Remy leave, Harry Redknapp will need a replacement up front and has been linked with potential moves for Icelandic striker Kolbein Sigthorsson and Norwich striker Gary Hooper.
