ARSENAL ARRIVALS…
Wojciech Szczesny’s future as Arsenal’s No 1 goalkeeper looks be in further doubt after reports suggested the club are monitoring Fiorentina’s Norberto Neto with eyes to making a move at some point in the near future. According to the Daily Mail, the Brazilian is interesting the Gunners but a move is more likely to develop in the summer. Szczesny has already lost his place to Colombian David Ospina following a poor showing against Southampton on New Year’s Day, as well as his infamous smoking incident in the changing rooms after the 2-0 defeat. Both Liverpool and Juventus are also reported to be interested in Neto.
Edinson Cavani could be allowed to leave French club Paris St-Germain this month after his relationship with manager Laurent Blanc deteriorated further. French newspaper L’Equipe reports that Blanc could let the Uruguayan striker leave for the Premier League after a major falling out between Cavani and star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Both Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to be interested, while Chelsea and Liverpool are also said to be in the hunt for the 27-year-old.

Real Madrid’s move for Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva could be confirmed as early as today and could pave the way for Asier Illarramendi’s exit, it has been reported. Arsenal, United and Liverpool are all said to be interested in the Spaniard, according to a report in the Daily Star, and the man who joined Real for €32.2m just two years ago could be on the move having failed to make an impact.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Friday morning that the club are in talks to sign Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista, but the move is far from complete and the chances of the Gunners landing the Brazilian are still rated at “50-50”. However, The Metro claims interest is growing among Manchester United and they believe they can hijack the deal to land the 24-year-old, dealing a blow to the Gunners’ title ambitions for this season and the future in the process.

MISSED OUT…
Wenger has revealed that the Gunners missed out on signing current United midfielder Angel Di Maria when he was just 17 years old, prompting the Arsenal manager to call for the rules stopping non-EU players being granted work permits to be scrapped. Wenger identified Di Maria’s talents while he was playing for Argentinian side Rosario Central, but due to the home office ruling he was unable to secure a move for the winger and instead he moved to Portuguese side Benfica before joining Real Madrid.
