The Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy sent the transfer rumour mill into overdrive today after Sky Sports cameras picked up that the Frenchman was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal defeat West Brom 1-0.

The 27-year-old, who scored 14 Premier League goals on loan at Newcastle United this season, has reportedly been a long-target for the Gunners.

The Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, was quick to joke about Remy's appearance at the Emirates in his post-match press conference.

"I have just been informed Loic Remy was here," Wenger said. "I honestly did not know. I hope he paid for his ticket!"

Olivier Giroud headed in his 22nd goal of the campaign in all competitions after 14 minutes, which proved enough to see off West Brom, who are all but secure of their top-flight status with two matches left still to play.

Arsenal made just one change from the XI which had beaten Newcastle here on Monday night, as Mathieu Flamini came in for Aaron Ramsey, who was rested because of a minor thigh problem but one which is not expected to keep the Wales midfielder out of contention for the FA Cup final.
