Arsenal transfer news: Gunners to be priced out of signing £45million Angel di Maria - reports

Real Madrid put huge fee on their star as Manchester City also linked

Any hopes of Arsenal signing Real Madrid star Angel di Maria have suffered a major blow after the Spanish club have said it will cost £45million to buy him, according to reports.

The Gunners allegedly offered £32m to bring Di Maria to the Emirates but the further money demanded by Real would seemingly price Arsene Wenger’s side out of the running.

The 26-year-old still has four years left on his current contract and has had a very good year at the Bernabeu in a new central midfield role.

But, as Real have missed out on the La Liga title again this season, club president Florentino Perez is likely to make changes this summer.

Two players the club have reportedly been linked to already are Sevilla pair Alberto Moreno and Ivan Rakitic, both instrumental in their Europa League final victory last week.

Should the pair, or any further possible signings, come in before next season, Di Maria is likely to fall down the pecking order for consistent games.

Manchester City have also been linked in the Argentine before and may look at him again to strengthen their squad.

As well as Di Maria, Arsenal have been linked with fellow Real star Karim Benzema but with the fees that the Spanish club are asking, either signing will be tough for Wenger and the north London club to securer.
