Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has rejected a move to Arsenal, ending speculation over his future.

The Gabonese, 26, had been linked with a (rather fanciful) move to the Emirates during this window with some reports linking Arsenal with a £44million bid.

But Aubameyang, who was named African Player of the Year on Thursday night, put an end to the gossip with a blunt response when asked about joining Arsene Wenger's team.

"Let me say this first: I am not going to Arsenal," he told ESPN at the award ceremony.

"Dortmund is my club and I am not leaving soon."

Aubameyang has been in red hot form this season, scoring 24 goals in 23 matches in all competitions this season.

The striker beat four-time winner Yaya Toure to the award, while Swansea City forward Andre Ayew came third.

"I am not usually an emotional person but to win this award, with players like Yaya and Dede [Ayew], is an important moment for me," he added.

What to expect from Arsenal this transfer window

"I don't usually cry, but this has made me cry."
