Monaco boss admits Kylian Mbappe is likely to be sold this summer as Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid circle

The French champions have already lost three players this summer and there are likely to be more sales

Kylian Mbappe is likely to be sold this summer with Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid all interested after Monaco head coach Leonardo Jardim admitted “it’s not always possible” to keep their best players.

Mbappe is hot property this summer after his goals fired Monaco to the Ligue 1 title ahead of PSG, as well as the Champions League semi-finals.

And that form means the Frenchman is likely to become the world’s most expensive player should he move this summer, with Arsene Wenger hoping he can persuade Mbappe to pick the Emirates and first-team football over the Bernabeu.

Liverpool are also interested and have been reported to have made contact for the 18-year-old with Jurgen Klopp wanting to add more goals to his attack.

Speaking about Mbappe, Jardim told RMC: “I have not spoken to him, because he knows how we work, that we want to keep him.

“I think the club and he will make the best decision.”

But it is not just Mbappe that could be sold this summer, with Thomas Lemar linked with the Gunners and Tottenham, Manchester United keen on Fabinho and Chelsea set to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Bernardo Silva has already been sold to Manchester City with Nabil Dirar and Valere Germain also departing, and Jardim admits that it will be difficult for Monaco to keep their best players give their business model.

“I hope to keep the right players,” he added. “It is not just me, all the coaches of the world [would] like to keep the best players.

“But with the Monaco project, maybe it's not possible to always keep the best. We're going to look at what's going to happen.

“Three players left. Other players could leave us. Everyone knows our project. It did not change even if we have won the title. The project is the same. The goal is still win. Nothing changed.

“It's very important for us. What matters is the training of the young players and the quality of our game. The only thing that changes is that we are going to start the season being the defending champion.”
