Chile's star central midfielder, Arturo Vidal, has given Manchester United and its supporters a huge boost by reportedly declaring he would prefer a move to Old Trafford than to Arsenal or Chelsea.

Vidal, widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his role, is reportedly wanted by Van Gaal as he looks to return Man United to their former glory after their disastrous 2013/14 season.

The Chilean was already on the radar of a host of major European clubs after his stellar performances for Juventus, but following his country's excellent performances at this summer's World Cup, he has become even more sought-after.

It is thought that Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Vidal, but, according to reports in Italy, the midfielder favours a move to Old Trafford.

Juventus are understood to be reluctant to sell Vidal, but could perhaps cash in on the player should they receive an offer of around £48m, which would allow them to refresh their squad as they look to improve their European performances next season.
