Aston Villa were challenging for a Champions League position during the first half of the season but ran out of steam at the crucial stage. Manager Martin O'Neill will be desperate to bolster his squad so that his team can last the distance.
With Randy Lerner's wealth and willingness to invest in the club, Villa Park can expect a busy close season.
