Calderon says Robinho badly advised

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has hit out at Robinho's advisors as the debate about the Brazil international's future rumbles on.

With just four days remaining until the end of the transfer window there is still no definitive resolution to Robinho's possible move to Chelsea, although the latest Spanish media reports suggest Madrid have now decided to keep the player.

The Primera Liga champions have regularly insisted they want to retain the 24-year-old, but Chelsea were confident enough in their chances of landing the player to advertise replica Robinho shirts for sale on their official online store yesterday.

Robinho himself publicly stated last week he wanted to move to Chelsea, but Calderon believes the forward would be making a mistake leaving Madrid and has questioned the advice the player has been receiving.

"I think it's normal that a player says that he wants to leave and in the case of Robinho I accept that as being totally normal. It seems to me that it's a mistake, but it's his problem," said Calderon in an interview with Marca.

"I think that his representatives are advising him very badly and I have a lot of faith in the lad. I believe he has a lot of quality and could be successful here. But I say it again that I have to defend the interests of this club in the best manner possible."

Two of the players Madrid have been closely linked with bringing to the Bernabeu in recent months are Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, another Chelsea target.

Madrid's pursuit of Manchester United winger Ronaldo dominated the headlines for much of the summer, but the Portugal winger finally committed to staying at Old Trafford for at least another season.

When asked if he thought Ronaldo would one day be a Madrid player, possibly as soon as next summer, Calderon said: "The truth is I don't know. The player continues having a contract with his club and as such we cannot do anything.

"I can't say anything about the coming year either because I don't know what is going to happen. We don't even know if we are going to be here...we hope that he comes, touch wood, but in a year's time many things can happen.

"All the fans want to see a player like Cristiano Ronaldo here, but I am convinced that in the same manner that Manchester would love to see all our players in their team.

"Cristiano is not going to come now. As for the coming year, only God knows."

With regards to AC Milan playmaker Kaka, Calderon added: "It did not seem that Kaka's position needed to be covered, according to the coaching team.

"I have to say that a move for Kaka was a possibility this summer, but they have told me that we don't need a player like Kaka now."
