Carlo Ancelotti led his side to a domestic Double last season but that success seems to have hidden problems with an ageing squad and a lack of depth.

A defender will be needed to cover John Terry and Alex, giving Branislav Ivanovic the chance to play at right-back. Attacking options need to bolstered too as the likes of Gaël Kakuta are still inexperienced.
