2 September: Manchester City confirm they have completed the signing of Robinho, who was expected to move to Chelsea, from Real Madrid on a four-year contract.

31 August: Robinho's hopes of a deadline-day move to Chelsea suffered another blow on tonight when Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon indicated the Spanish champions would not be making any squad alterations tomorrow. (PA)

"I think it's normal that a player says that he wants to leave and in the case of Robinho I accept that as being totally normal. It seems to me that it's a mistake, but it's his problem," said Calderon in an interview with Marca. "I think that his representatives are advising him very badly and I have a lot of faith in the lad. I believe he has a lot of quality and could be successful here. 2 August: Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has insisted that he is "not at all disappointed" by Frank Lampard's decision to stay at Chelsea because he understands the player's reasons. Lampard elected to remain at Stamford Bridge despite only having a year left on his current deal and Moratti believes that his close family ties were the only factor keeping him at the west London club.
