CHELSEA BOUND...

Jose Mourinho will move for Marco Reus or Juan Cuadrado as a replacement for Andre Schurrle.

The problem with this rumour, reported by the Daily Express - who defer their source to 'reports' but fail to reference them - is that Jose Mourinho has previously said he will give the German winger another chance, Schurrle yesterday said he wants to stay and fight for his place and Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said the club were not interested in Schurrle.

Still, it's fun to report transfer gossip.

The Daily Star say Chelsea could make a last-ditch bid for Wilfried Bony, who is in advanced negotiations with Manchester City, though a deal will not be completed until after the African Cup of Nations.

THE DEAL'S OFF...

Jose Mourinho's No 2 Steve Holland put paid to pretty much all speculation yesterday when he said the Blues won't be buying anyone in this window to keep in line with Financial Fair Play.

Unfortunately that means the mega deal for disgruntled Barcelona star Lionel Messi is "impossible" - if it ever was - while a move for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane will have to wait until the summer. Bayern Munich are believed to have entered the race for Varane, bad news for Chelsea and Manchester United.
