Chelsea transfer news: Bayern Munich give up on Callum Hudson-Odoi summer chase and pursue other targets
The German champions are actively searching for alternatives
Bayern Munich have resigned to the fact that Chelsea will not sell Callum Hudson-Odoi under any circumstances this summer and are now actively pursuing alternative transfer targets.
Reports in Germany suggested that Bayern were preparing to make a fresh £45m bid for the teenager this summer – a £10m increase on their highest bid last January.
However, The Independent understands that Bayern have given up on completing a deal this summer – due to Chelsea’s resolute stance - and, if any bid were to materialise, it would be done so in hope of deterring the 18-year-old from committing to a new long-term deal, worth in the region of £100,000-per-week.
Hudson-Odoi has entered the last year of his current contract with the Blues and would be free to negotiate with overseas clubs in January if a new contract isn’t agreed. But after reassuring discussions with Frank Lampard, the club are confident an agreement will be reached.
How Chelsea can line up under Frank Lampard 2019/20

“He knows he has a boss here who wants to work with him to improve.
“There are a few younger players now. Some have signed, some will sign in the next month or so.”
Hudson-Odoi is currently continuing his rehab after rupturing his achilles towards the end of last season.
Bayern have prioritised the signing of a new winger after both Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery left the club in the summer, and may now turn to Dalian Yifang’s Yannick Carrasco, however, the player has never been the club’s first-choice.
