Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to again put his hand into his pocket to improve the first-team squad, according to reports.

With Chelsea picking up just a point from their first available six - being outplayed by rivals Manchester City - and manager Jose Mourinho seemingly posturing over a lack of new players, the Russian billionaire is willing to fork out for 'at least' three news players, according to the Daily Mirror.

Along with long-time target John Stones, who Everton remain determined to keep despite a £30million bid from the Blues, the report states that Chelsea also want another central midfielder and one more attacking player.

Radamel Falcao, Asmir Begovic and Baba Rahman have all arrived this summer, but none of those are seen as players to truly make an impact on the starting XI, they are likely to be used to fill out a thin squad.

Atletico Madrid forward Antonie Griezmann is a name that has been linked over the last year, as is Zenit St Petersburg central midfielder Axel Witsel. Alexandre Lacazette has also been mentioned, but all three of those names appear to be wild speculation at this point.
