Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck would prefer a move to Tottenham Hotspur other over destinations, according to reports.

Sunderland and Hull City are among a number of clubs chasing Welbeck, 23, but the Daily Mail report that United are keen to sell but would consider a loan move from Tottenham if the north London club were to pay his wages in full.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger denied any interest in Welbeck after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Besiktas in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

At a press conference on Friday he also said he could look to replace injured striker with players already in his squad.

Mauricio Pochettino

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is yet to bring in any attackers so far this summer, instead buying four defenders and a goalkeeper.

Federico Fazio was the latest to arrive, an £8m signing from Sevilla.

Welbeck has been left frustrated under Louis van Gaal, knowing he low in the pecking order.

He did come on as a substitute against Sunderland last weekend and started the 4-0 Capital One Cup defeat against MK Dons, but wants more first-team football, having enjoyed the best season of his career last term.
