Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has recorded a special message for Real Madrid-bound goalkeeper David De Gea, telling him: "Please don't go!"
Ferdinand posted this video this morning to his Instagram account, reaching out to the Spanish goalkeeper by booming out the 1992 dance classic "Please Don't Go" by Double You while sitting in his car.
The 36-year-old Ferdinand spent 12 years at Old Trafford, winning six league titles, one Champions League, three League cups and a Fifa Club World Cup.
De Gea has been strongly linked with a move back to Spain to play for Real Madrid this summer to replace Iker Casillas, who has moved to Porto.
Together, Ferdinand and De Gea were a part of the United squad that won the Premier League in 2013.
Ferdinand has now retired from football, having played for Queens Park Rangers last season. The former England international will present BT Sports coverage of the Champions League next term.
