Diego Costa: Atletico Madrid striker passes medical before £32m transfer to Chelsea
The Spain international is set to become the Blues' first major addition of the summer
Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea according to reports, paving the way for the Atletico Madrid striker to complete a £32m move to Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian-born striker has been training with the Spain squad ahead of the start of next week's World Cup, but the 25-year-old took time out to be put through his paces by his new club.
The hold-up to the transfer, which was agreed between the two clubs some time ago, was due to Costa needing to recover from the hamstring injury which forced him off after nine minutes in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.
Chelsea will now discuss personal terms with the player and hope to be able to confirm the deal this week.
In addition to Costa, Blues manager Jose Mourinho hopes to land other targets Koke, who also plays for Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain's Ezequiel Lavezzi. Mourinho, meanwhile, is not interested in making a move for Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas.
Costa's transfer could signal departures for current Blues' strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, although Torres wants to stay and fight for his place. Samuel Eto'o only had a one-year contract with the club and is set to leave. Diego Costa: Atletico Madrid striker passes medical before £32m transfer to Chelsea
