Arsenal appear to have completed a deal to sign Ajax youth prospect Donyell Malen after the 16-year-old posted a picture of him signing a contract on Instagram before hastily removing his account.
The Gunners are believed to have beaten Manchester United and Barcelona to his signature and the picture (above) features Arsenal transfer chief Dick Law and agent Mino Raiola.
Despite Malen's attempts to delete the picture, it has been shared across social media by intrigued Arsenal supporters.
It is believed that the 16-year-old has agreed a scholarship deal with the North London side and is unlikely to feature in any first-team outings for several years.
Responding to recent jibes made by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger defended his youth record at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
He said: "I believe that one day, if you make real statistics of the players we have developed here, and you compare them to all the other clubs, you would be surprised.
"You must not listen too much to what people say because sometimes in the same week I get two different reproaches. One is that I don’t spend enough and another is I spend too much.
"If you want to create success - which we want desperately - we must focus on what happens inside, just try to do as well as we can and believe in the football we want to play and play it as well as we can and let other people talk."
