Emmanuel Frimpong blasted his former club Arsenal last night, saying that Arsene Wenger's transfer dealings this summer had been far from dench.

Writing on Twitter as he watched Arsenal's unconvincing 2-1 win at Anderlecht in the Champions League, Frimpong, who left the club permanently in January, said that Wenger would have been better off buying a defensive midfielder than £35m man Alexis Sanchez.

Frimpong, of course, did formerly play as a defensive midfielder for the Gunners.

The Ghana international, who now plys his trade in Russia for for FC UFA, did cheer up by the end of the match, however, expressing his joy at Lukas Podolski's 90th-minute winner. That, he said, was "dench", to quote his famous catachphrase.

The 22-year-old made 16 appearances for the Gunners between 2008 and 2014.
