Everton did well in their first season post-David Moyes, beating off Tottenham and Manchester United to finish fifth place last term.

Under Roberto Martinez they'll be hoping to continue last season's good work and have a good go in the Europa League too.

COMPLETED TRANSFERS

Gareth Barry - Free from Manchester City

The former Manchester City player was hugely impressive during last season's loan spell so it was little surprise that Everton convinced him to stay permanently. A three-year deal was agreed with the free agent.

Muhamed Besic - Undisclosed from Ferencvarosi

The Toffees snapped up the Bosnia and Herzegovina international on a five-year deal after the 21-year-old impressed at the World Cup. Martinez had already been an admirer of the defensive midfielder's abilities but his displays in Brazil were enough to convince the former Swansea City manager into making his move.

Romelu Lukaku - £28m from Chelsea

The Belgium international excelled on loan at Goodison Park last term, scoring 15 goals in the Premier League. The striker said he did not want to "spent 10 years on the bench" at Chelsea.

Christian Atsu - loan from Chelsea

The 22-year-old winger joins from Chelsea on a season-long loan. He has won 26 caps for Ghana.

Sam Byrne - free from Manchester United

Brendan Galloway - Undisclosed from Milton Keynes Dons
