Toffees confirm deal for Bosnia and Herzegovina star this afternoon

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has completed a deal for Muhamed Besic from Hungarian outfit Ferencvarosi for an undisclosed fee.

The Toffees have snapped up the Bosnia and Herzegovina international on a five-year deal after the 21-year-old impressed at this summer's World Cup.

Martinez had already been an admirer of the defensive midfielder's abilities but his displays in Brazil were enough to convince the former Swansea City manager into making his move.

The Merseyside club are also hopeful that they can complete a permanent move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku within the next 48 hours, according to reports.

The Belgian international spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, where he netted 15 goals in 31 Premier League outings and helped the Toffees to an impressive fifth place.

Having missed out on Champions League football yet again, however, Everton have already strengthened with the signing of Gareth Barry following his loan spell.

Martinez's side have spent the last few days in Thailand, where they were defeated by Leicester City in Bangkok, while they gain fitness ahead of the new season.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher's second half strike won the game for Nigel Pearson's side as both clubs continued their preparation for their opening Premier League fixture against each other on 16th August.
