Fulham sign Australia World Cup striker Adam Taggart on three-year deal

Newcastle Jets striker joins the Championship club for an undisclosed fee and has signed a contract until 2017

Fulham have signed Australia striker Adam Taggart from A-League outfit Newcastle Jets for an undisclosed fee.

The club have confirmed the arrival of the 21-year-old, who failed to score in his two appearances at the World Cup.

He is one of the country's most promising players after scoring 16 goals last season, and was awarded the A-League Golden Boot as well being named Young Footballer of the Year.

The youngster has signed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage and is Felix Magath's second summer signing, following the acquisition of Motherwell defender Shaun Hutchinson last week.

Taggart, who has three goals in seven appearances for Australia, said he is looking forward to proving himself in England.

"I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in my career with Fulham and working hard to take my game to another level,” he said to the Australian press.

Taggart, who played for Perth Glory before joining Newcastle Jets in 2012, scored 18 goals in 44 appearances while at the club.
