Manchester United and Arsenal will not be signing Julian Draxler this month according to Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies.

The Germany international has been linked with a switch to the Premier League throughout the last few windows and the current one has been no different.

Among those understood to be keen on the Germany international are Manchester United and Arsenal, whilst Manchester City are also said to have shown interest. All three have reportedly scouted the 21-year-old who has already made 15 appearances for the World Cup winning national team, including a substitute appearance in the 7-1 demolition of Brazil.

However, Tonnies has insisted that Schalke will not be allowing Draxler to leave during the current window.

"We have absolutely no thoughts about him leaving on short notice,” he told Sport Bild. “Schalke is the place where he can develop best and I told him that in person.

"My opinion is also, that Julian has developed greatly, especially regarding his personality."

Draxler has not played since Octover after suffering a serious thigh injury, but Tonnies is confident he will return at the top of his game.

"He had a setback with his injury and, as with every big player at a young age, he had a weaker period. But Julian will have a fantastic career."
