Fernando Torres has said he'll stay - a major coup for Hodgson, who certainly put in the time to woo his star player. Steven Gerrard's future is also more certain with the arrival of Joe Cole. However, key man Javier Mascherano still looks destined to leave, and with the current squad so poor last season, more new recruits will be essential, especially if Liverpool harbour any hope of returning to the top four.
