Liverpool were the big surprise in the Premier League last season and the fact that many people were disappointed when they didn't win the title shows just how well they played.

Now that Luis Suarez is gone, goals will have to come from somewhere. Brendan Rodgers' men will have the added workload of the Champions League to deal with next season as well.

Adam Lallana - £23m from Southampton

Has been excellent for Southampton for a few seasons now and deserved his chance at a top club. Should bring added quality and creativity to the midfield. Was a surprise that he wasn't used more by England at the World Cup.

Lazar Markovic - £20m from Benfica

The versatile Markovic can play either on the left wing or as up front on his own, and is expected to complete Brendan Rodgers post-Suarez attack alongside the central Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge on the right. Performed well throughout Benfica's Europa League campaign last year.

Emre Can - £9.8m from Bayer Leverkusen

The Germany Under-21 player looks a real prospect and Liverpool were ready to take a gamble on the midfielder by activating his release clause. He scored three times in 29 Bundesliga games last term.

Rickie Lambert - £4m from Southampton

Not exactly one for the future, but there's no denying the England international's ability to find the back of the net. Offers something different. The 32-year-old had a record of a goal every two games for the Saints and has scored 13 or more goals in seven of his last eight seasons.

Dejan Lovren - £20m from Southampton

Lovren became the third player to switch to Anfield from Southampton. The 25-year-old Croatia centre-back joined on a four-year contract. Lovren had joined Southampton from Lyon for £8.5m last summer, leaves St Mary's 12 months into a four-year contract.

Divock Origi - £10m from Lille

Having impressed at the World Cup, it looks like Liverpool might have real talent on their hands. But they'll have to wait before getting a proper look at the 19-year-old Belgian as he was immediately loaned back to Lille for the season.

Javier Manquillo - two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid

The highly rated right-back made only a handful of appearances for Diego Simeone's first team during their La Liga title-winning season. Manquillo has signed an unusual two-year loan deal with a view to a permanent stay on Merseyside should he settle in English football.

Alberto Moreno - £12m from Seville

The 22-year-old left-back, one of Brendan Rodgers main targets all summer, joined from the La Liga side. He was named in Vicente del Bosque's 30-man Spain squad for the World Cup,  but was one of seven players cut from the final squad.

The 20-year-old defender signed for Liverpool this summer after being released by Tottenham Hotspur.
