Despite being reportedly given the green light by the club's owners, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will not make any new signings in the January transfer window.

The Daily Mirror have reported that Klopp has not even asked to have a meeting with with his Fenway Sports Group bosses about potential transfer targets.

The report adds that unless an outstanding buy - such as his former Borussia Dortmund centre-half Neven Subotic - comes available next month, then he has made clear he has faith in his current squad.

The news will not go down well with Liverpool supporters, the Reds have not won in their last three matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is close to signing a new contract at Liverpool, with negotiations over extending his Anfield career set to be concluded before the end of the month.

Talks have been taking place over the last few weeks to extend his current deal, which is set to run out in 2018.
