Radamel Falcao remains a Liverpool transfer target - reports

The Colombia international continues to be linked with a move away from Monaco

Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Radamel Falcao.

Having lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona earlier this summer, Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in more options in attack, despite Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling showing at the weekend that the Reds have a new SAS on their hands.

Falcao has emerged as a possible arrival with reports suggesting Liverpool are ready to make a big-money bid for the Colombia international.

Falcao only moved to Monaco last summer but is understood to be disaffected by the French Ligue 1 and keen to move on.

Real Madrid would be the the striker's favoured destination, however Los Blancos are in a state of limbo regarding a bid. £90m has already been spent on James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Keylor Navas this summer and the Spanish champions must be wary of breaking Uefa's Financial Fair Play rules.

Reports suggest Real Madrid want to take Falcao on loan and make the deal permanent next summer, however Monaco believe that the Spanish club should pay up front for the striker.

With Monaco, who finished behind PSG in the final Ligue 1 standings last season, sympathetic to Falcao's desire to move on, Falcao could head elsewhere.

Juventus are also understood to be keen on providing a new club for the former Atletico Madrid player.

Should Liverpool see their interest in Falcao fail to materialise into an actual deal, Samuel Eto'o and Edinson Cavani could be possible alternatives as the club look to prepare themselves for another push for the Premier League title and a return to the Champions League.
