Lorient left back Raphael Guerreiro has moved closer to a Liverpool deal as officials open up talks for the player. Italian news agency Calcionews24 have reported the start of negotiations which could see the 22 year Portuguese international swap the shores of Brittany for Merseyside.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp had previously tried to sign the versatile left footer at Borussia Dortmund for £5.8m. After another strong season in Ligue 1 it would appear Klopp is looking to brush off Arsenal interest to secure the signing of a player he clearly rates highly.

Guerreiro may not be the only player the Merseyside club battle Arsenal for. Today's Sun reports that Borussia Mochengladbach captain Granit Xhaka is looking for a move to an English club. The Swiss international has said that he’s “dreamt of playing in the Premier League since I was a child”. However, Mochengladbach’s sporting director Max Erbel has claimed “Granit wants to stay with us and for our part we do not want to lose him

As Daniel Sturridge continues to rack up appearances in the physio room, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Juventus striker Alvaro Morata. The forward has been linked with ex-club Real Madrid, with his contract stipulating two potential buy back clauses. But with an impending transfer ban the Red’s are eyeing up the 23 year old Spanish international, ESPN FC are reporting.

With the Alex Texeira deal stalling as Shakhtar Donetsk ask Liverpool to up their bid from €30 million to €50 million, Sky Sport Italia and La Gazetta dello Sport are reporting a potential deal for Ezequiel Lavezzi. The Paris Saint-Germain forward is looking to leave the French club with Chelsea also displaying their interest. Inter Milan, though, are thought to be the front runners for the talented Argentinian. The Italian club look set to offer him a two year contract likely to be worth £2.65 million-a-year; a deal Liverpool would have to match to be a serious candidate.

With the form of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet waning Talksport report that the Ter Stegen deal may be back on. Whilst Klopp ruled out a Red’s move for the German, Spanish newspapers now suggest the deal could go through for as little as £10.8 million. The goalkeeper has been out of favour at Barcelona playing only four league games this season; a deal could go through by the end of the window.

Away from the big stars Leicester youngster Ben Chilwell is being coveted by Arsenal although Liverpool may match any bid made by the North London club. Manchester City also look to be interested in the 19 year old who may well have a number of options to choose from.
