Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is looking forward to the challenge of building his new-look team for next season.

The Dutch coach spent £150million last summer to take the team back into the Champions League and will get the same again this summer as he looks to have the club challenging for the Premier League title and for domestic and European silverware.

"It is enjoyable because you are preparing a team," he told the Manchester United website.

"You have to make a team probably - it's dependable how much new players are coming."

Van Gaal, who has signed just only Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven this summer, is not so enthused by the long slog of pre-season.

"It's a little boring because the results in preparation are not so important,' he added.

"Last year in the United States of America we have won everything and we played against big, top clubs and then we have to play our first match against Swansea City and we lose - that cannot happen next year."

On Van Gaal's orders the team will travel much less of the US than they did last summer, which should have his players fresher when the real action starts.

"Now I think we have improved our America tour because we have two base camps, we are at other side of the coast so there are lower temperatures and we can build up our fitness better there," he said.

"When you are always in the same city you don't have the time difference. Last year we had a lot of time differences so you cannot train properly. It was not good. Now we are in the same base camps so we have no time difference and also we have chosen our hotel nearby the training accommodation.

"'It is now more easy to train twice a day and that is very important in pre season."
