Luka Modric urges former Tottenham team-mate Gareth Bale to join him at Real Madrid

Having left Tottenham for Real Madrid during the summer, Luka Modric has risked urking Spurs fans further by urging Gareth Bale to join him at the Spanish champions.

Bale's future has come under speculation once again following his stand-out display against Scotland last Friday in which he scored two goals. The second was a screamer from the edge of the box in the dying minutes.

Following the match, former Real Madrid striker Davor Suker said he thought a move to the Bernabeu "would be the best move of Bale's career".

Speaking to BBC Radio Wales, Modric backed Suker's statement, saying he felt his former team-mate was good enough to join the La Liga champions.

"It would be amazing and I think he can [play for Real Madrid]," Modric said

"He's a good enough player."

It is just the latest plaudit for the Welshman whose international manager said last week was the best footballer in the Britain.

"Anyone can see when he's got the ball he's devastating. He's a terrific player. His work-rate is excellent, he comes away with Wales and plays with passion and incredible ability. You'd be crazy to try and swap him," said Chris Coleman.

"He's scored all our goals [in this campaign] so far and I know people are talking about him. He's a show-stopper and people pay money to come and watch him play."

Bale's former manager at Spurs, Harry Redknapp, claimed the 23-year-old is heading for the heights of the two players widely considered the best in the world.

"He's an amazing, amazing talent and he's after the Ronaldos and Messis of this world and he's getting better and better," Redknapp said ahead of Wales' World Cup qualification defeat to Croatia.

"He's almost unplayable when he's on his game. He is a genuine world-class player.

"There's nobody he couldn't play for. He'd improve any team.

"He is already at the top but any team in the world would love to have Gareth Bale playing for them."

Bale signed a four-year deal at White Hart Lane in June but it seems speculation over his future is only likely to grow ahead of the next transfer window.
