Zlatan Ibrahimovic
One of the more surprising stories to spring up this summer is that in his hunt for new striking talent Mancini is targeting AC Milan frontman Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a deal that will earn the player £300,000 a week. The giant Swede brings creative talent and flair as well as a very good goal-scoring record, except against English clubs. Ibrahimovic has always been regarded with a certain amount of suspicion by the Premier League as he has not really been able to demonstrate the class for which he is so well known when playing English sides in the Champions League. He quite often appears lazy on the pitch and this inertia would surely not serve him well in the fast paced, physical Premier League. The other accusation is that he is simply not up for the big occasion and scores most of his goals against lesser teams. Roberto Mancini has managed him before though, he brought the Swede from Ajax to Inter, and must be confident that he can get the best out of him and control his large ego.
