Manchester United still want to offload Nani according to reports, despite the winger's claims that they are keen for him to remain at the club.

Nani said at the weekend that he believes the Old Trafford outfit are keen for him to return, despite admitting his loan switch to Sporting Lisbon has been the right move for all concerned.

The Portugal international returned to his former club on a season-long deal when it appeared he wouldn't have a role to play under Louis van Gaal. Yet the 28-year-old claimed the decision was his whilst at the same time suggesting he is wanted back.

"The club know my value and I know they want me to stay," he was quoted as saying.

"It was me who made the choice to leave the club, and it was a good decision by me because I knew if I stayed one more season at Old Trafford it would be very hard for me.

"I just need someone to believe in me, trust me and my qualities and give me an opportunity to show them on the pitch."

Nani has gone some way to resurrecting his career back in Portugal, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances, including three in the Champions League.

However, Manchester United still want to rid themselves of the player, according to the Manchester Evening News. Yet there are concerns at the club that it might not be easy with potential suitors put off by his £100,000-a-week wages.

Nani has three-and-a-half years remaining on his Old Trafford contract, meaning if no permanent buyer can be found they could be forced to loan him out once again when his current deal with Sporting Lisbon expires.
