17 August: Bayern Munich's French ace Franck Ribery has moved to try and put an end to speculation about his future by insisting that he has never asked to leave his current club. The 26-year-old has been a target for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea for much of the summer, but Ribery says that he is content to stay at the Allianz Arena.
5 August: Jonny Evans is being lined-up for a stunning summer exit from Manchester United with the Northern Ireland defender swapping Old Trafford for Spain. Evans last night emerged as a target for European champions Barcelona and it is believed that the Spanish giants are ready to tempt United with a £12m offer for the 21-year-old.
3 August: Manchester United and Liverpool are poised to go to war over Valencia hotshot David Villa. Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is determined to snap up Villa once Xabi Alonso completes his move to Real Madrid but he faces stiff competition from his fierce rival, Sir Alex Ferguson.
23 July: David Gill has pledged that none of the £80m received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo will go towards tackling Manchester United's spiralling debt. As interest continues to mount on loans taken out by the Glazer family to purchase the club four years ago, it is estimated that United are now more than £700m in the red.
8 July: Manchester United have continued their rebuilding for the new season with the signing of winger Gabriel Obertan from Bordeaux. The 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Barclays Premier League champions.
8 July: The future of Manchester United's Portuguese winger Nani appears increasingly uncertain with the club expected to complete the £3m signing of 20-year-old France Under-21 international Gabriel Obertan today.
4 July: The Manchester United midfielder Rodrigo Possebon has agreed a one-year loan deal with Portuguese side Sporting Braga. The 20-year-old Brazilian made eight appearances for United in all competitions last season.
4 July: Michael Owen revealed yesterday that Sir Alex Ferguson moved to sign him on Wednesday afternoon as the Manchester United manager realised that Karim Benzema was joining Real Madrid. Only once Ferguson had been forced to admit defeat to Madrid's remarkable financial powers for the second time this summer did he turn to the former Liverpool striker.
2 July: Real Madrid continued their extraordinary summer of transfer market supremacy over Manchester United last night, by beating them to the signature of the 21-year-old French international striker Karim Benzema.
30 June: United have sealed the £17m transfer of Antonio Valencia.
