MANCHESTER UNITED BOUND...
Louis van Gaal continues to be linked with defenders from all across Europe as he bids to improve a back-line short on top quality.
Although the Mats Hummels speculation appears to have died down for the moment, Manchester United are being linked with another £30million player, Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos.
United have been linked with the Brazilian already this January, but the 20-year-old was seen as a secondary target. The Daily Star, citing French website Le 10 Sport, report that PSG could be prepared to sell with Marquinhos below Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the pecking order.
Former United defender Gerard Pique could make a shock return to Old Trafford with the Daily Express reporting that United are preparing a £15m bid for the Barcelona and Spain star.
Dani Alves also continues to be linked with a move, though that it is likely to be at the end of his contract in the summer. According to Diario Sport, Van Gaal sees the Brazilian as a perfect fit for his 3-5-2 formation.
Bursaspor midfielder Ozan Tufan, 19, is also linked with a move to Old Trafford, with other clubs across Europe said to be tracking him.
Real Madrid pair Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were linked with a move to United on Sunday.
THE DEAL'S OFF...
Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane has stated his desire to stay in Spain and win trophies with Los Blancos. The 20-year-old had been a target of United and Chelsea.
United have postponed prospective moves for Mats Hummels and Kevin Strootman until the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
HEADING FOR THE EXIT...
Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are keeping a keen eye on misfiring striker Radamel Falcao.
The Colombian could make his loan move to Premier League rivals Manchester United permanent for £43.2m at the end of the season, but the three clubs have all inquired, according to The Times, about the 28-year-old's availability this summer.
Other reports claim that United are hoping to lower the fee for the injury-hit striker, who has only scored three goals this season.
