Manchester United transfer news: Daley Blind would 'think about it' if Louis van Gaal makes offer
The Netherlands international appears open to a move to Old Trafford
Daley Blind has indicated that he would be open to a move to Manchester United, with the defender saying he would "think about it" if an offer was accepted by Ajax.
The Netherlands international has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford ever since the Netherlands' participation in the World Cup came to an end.
The 24-year-old shone in Brazil as the Dutch finished third and it quickly became apparent that Van Gaal was interested in maintaining a working relationship with the Ajax player.
"I am happy here in Amsterdam," he is quoted as saying. "But if there comes another club I will have to think about it and then we will see.
"I will think about my options. For now I will focus on Ajax and we will see what happens next week."
Manchester United's interest in Blind may have increased amid the latest news surrounding other defensive targets.
Van Gaal is desperate to strengthen at the back following the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic but has seen Thomas Vermaelen move to Barcelona and the chances of signing Mats Hummels recede.
Should United make a serious offer, Ajax manager Frank De Boer concedes the Dutch giants may find it difficult to resist.
"I am convinced he will make the right choice," said De Boer of Blind's possible departure. "If he goes to a big club then he has definitely deserved it.
"But I think it would be better if he stays one year. Last year was a good year for him but I think he can improve a lot with us.
"If a club comes along with a lot of money it is almost impossible to say no. But we won't let him go for free that is for sure.
"It is important for the player and the club that there is no tension or that it happens at the last minute."
