Manchester United transfer news: Juventus insist Arturo Vidal is going nowhere as Red Devils plan swap deal with Javier Hernandez

United get set to test Juve's resolve despite their lack of desire to sell

Manchester United are preparing a fresh offer for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal which could involve Javier Hernandez going in the opposite direction - despite the Italian club insisting they won't sell.

Reports in Italy this morning suggest that United are applying the final touches to a package which would include a £32m fee and one of their star strikers.

England international Danny Welbeck has also been suggested but it is thought that Hernandez represents a more enticing option for Juve.

Louis van Gaal, who lost his first competitive fixture as the new Red Devils manager to Swansea City last weekend, has chosen Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as his preferred strike partnership.

While United may be trying to rekindle the deal, however, the Serie A champions are in no mood to do business so far into August.

Giuseppe Marotta, the club's Director General and Sports Department CEO, has insisted the Chilean star will remain with Juventus.

"We have no ongoing negotiations, nor have had requests the player to leave," he said.

"Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him."
