Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he wants to sign "at least two" more players before the start of the season.

Speaking to the club's in-house channel MUTV, Van Gaal said he is looking for more balance in his squad.

The Dutch coach has already spent an estimated £62million this summer after the signing of four players: Morgan Schneiderlin (£24m), Memphis Depay (£23m), Bastian Schweinsteiger (£15m) and Matteo Darmian (£12.7m).

United have been linked with numerous players during this window, Nicolas Otamendi and Edinson Cavani are the two most frequently linked in the last week, with a centre-back and a striker appearing to be the biggest needs.

"I hope so," said Van Gaal when asked if he expects more players to arrive. "No, we are not finished yet, I think.

"It is what I have said already in many press conferences. We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.

"But we shall only buy when the player can give a contribution to our level. And, of course, that is in the eyes of our staff, but I have to have confidence that he can cope with the rhythm of the Premier League."
