Manchester United transfer news: Louis van Gaal targets Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller

Van Gaal wants the club to deal with signings during the World Cup and have them sorted by the time he arrives in Manchester

Louis van Gaal has drawn up his wish list of players and wants the club to deal with them and have in place by the time he arrives in Manchester after his World Cup duties with the Netherlands have been seen through.

According to the Daily Mail, Van Gaal has outlined the trio of German players, Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller, that he wants executive chairman Ed Woodward to sign in time for his arrival in England.

The trio of high quality players would command a price tag in excess of £100million, while further funds will be spent with the club nearing competition in their pursuit of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.

Even though the Dutchman says he is fully focused on the World Cup, he wants the club to act quickly in the transfer market and secure the players he wants.

Muller hasn’t necessarily enjoyed his time under new Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola and could be persuaded away if the German champions do not reassure him that he is still a key player at the Allianz.

Schweinsteiger is reportedly interested in coming to England and would be a good inclusion to the much criticised central midfield of United last season.

Both players played under Van Gaal during his time with Bayern, a period that saw them win the domestic double and reach the 2010 Champions League final.

While the both Bayern players could be a possibility, Borussia Dortmund are not keen on parting with defender Hummels.
