New Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has no interest in signing Liverpool's Mario Balotelli this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Star have claimed that while McClaren is keen to add to his Magpies squad over the summer, one player who does not feature in his plans is the 24-year-old striker.

Balotelli endured a season to forget at Liverpool last season, scoring only one Premier League in total after he moved from AC Milan for £16m last summer. It has been reported that the Reds will listen to offers for him.

McClaren has said that he first fully focused on the squad he has at St James' Park.

"We talked to the players - we told them this is where we are now, this is where we want to go," said McClaren.

"But talking's all well and good. It's what you do on the field and that's why it's enjoyable to get out there and start the work."
