2 September: Newcastle have completed the signing of Spain Under-21 striker Xisco on a five-year deal from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, the club have announced on their website.

1 September: Valencia have confirmed the signing of Ignacio "Nacho" Gonzalez, but the Uruguay midfielder has been immediately loaned out to Newcastle United. (PA)

1 September: Deportivo La Coruna have confirmed they have agreed to sell striker Xisco to Newcastle, and Xisco will have a medical with the Barclays Premier League club.

31 August: Michael Owen has been offered an improved three-year extension to his current contract at Newcastle.

29 August: Former Tottenham defender Thimothee Atouba has been left out of Hamburg's squad this weekend after being linked with Barclays Premier League side Newcastle. (PA)

29 August: Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan has promised the club's fans an influx of top signings after sanctioning James Milner's £10m switch to Aston Villa. However, having held talks with club owner Mike Ashley and executive director (football) Dennis Wise on Wednesday, a surprisingly upbeat Keegan remains hopeful of recruiting up to four more new faces by the time the summer window closes. He said: "We had a great meeting. The owner is absolutely totally committed to the club, there is no doubt about that, and it is a case of us trying to get the quality we want in." (PA)

29 August: Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan today insisted it was his decision to sell James Milner to Aston Villa. Keegan said: "He's a player, in an ideal world, you would not want to lose, but I just want to make it absolutely clear that at the end of the day, it was my decision to sell him. We got an offer that I feel was his value. We are all aware James has had a difficult time - he almost signed for them once before and was dragged back." (PA)

29 August: Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of England Under-21 winger James Milner from Newcastle on a four-year contract.

23 August: Kevin Keegan remains optimistic Michael Owen will sign a new deal at Newcastle as the sides prepare for talks this week. The England striker will be out of contract next summer and could talk to other clubs if nothing is agreed before then. (PA)

19 August: Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has confirmed the proposed transfer of Magpies striker Shola Ameobi has been shelved due to injury. The two clubs agreed a fee for the 26-year-old and he spent yesterday undergoing a medical at Portman Road. However, after the detection of a hamstring injury which is unlikely to clear up before the end of the transfer window, Magilton has decided to call off the transfer for the time being. (PA)

19 August: Newcastle's recruitment team are scouring the world for new talent once again as they prepare for a late flurry of activity ahead of the summer transfer deadline. Executive director (football) Dennis Wise, vice-president (player recruitment) Tony Jimenez and technical co-ordinator Jeff Vetere are all on their travels this week with manager Kevin Keegan hoping for more key signings. 13 August: Blackburn's Stephen Warnock today denied reports that he has handed in a transfer request. The 26-year-old England defender told his club's official website: "The reports are rubbish, I have not handed in a transfer request." Reports had linked the former Liverpool player, who signed a new four-year deal with Blackburn at the end of last season, with a move to Newcastle. (PA)

12 August: Newcastle's Shola Ameobi has asked the club not to scare off potential suitors with an unrealistic asking price for his services. Injuries and loss of form have restricted the striker to just a handful of appearances for the north-east club over the last two seasons and the 26-year-old admits the time may have come to look elsewhere for first-team action. 7 August: Deportivo La Coruna have accepted a bid from Newcastle for Argentina defender Fabricio Coloccini. Depor claim the fee could rise to around £10.3m. (PA)

6 August: Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has revealed he hopes to end his club's lack of activity in the transfer market this summer by bringing in three new players. "I would still like to strengthen and I'm confident we'll bring in at least two, possibly three more faces," he said. (PA)

28 July: Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini is on the verge of signing for Newcastle, according to the player's agent Marcelo Lombilla. Reports in Spain suggest Coloccini has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League side, who are said to have made a 10million euro (£7.8m) bid for the Argentina defender. (PA)

28 July: There is fresh uncertainty over Damien Duff's future at Newcastle United after the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland winger was mentioned in connection with a return to Blackburn Rovers as part of a proposed deal that would take Stephen Warnock in the opposite direction.

16 July: Newcastle are hoping to persuade Argentinian playmaker Pablo Aimar his future lies on Tyneside over the next 48 hours. It is understood the Magpies have agreed a £7million fee for the Real Zaragosa midfielder, and reports from Spain suggest his representatives are on their way to Tyneside in an attempt to thrash out a deal. 5 July: Bolton have moved to again rubbish reports linking them with a move for disgraced midfielder Joey Barton. A Trotters spokesperson told PA Sport: "At no point has any representative of Bolton Wanderers expressed an interest in or made an enquiry about Joey Barton. We would like to reiterate that Bolton Wanderers is not interested in the services of Barton." (PA)

5 July: Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins has admitted he would find it hard to turn down Arsenal if they attempted to sign him. "Arsenal is a big club that everyone wants to play for. I am thrilled and it will be nice to play for such a team," the 23-year-old told The Sun. (PA)

4 July: Newcastle have confirmed that defender Steven Taylor has signed a new three-year contract.

2 July: Newcastle have signed Argentina winger Jonas Gutierrez from Real Mallorca on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

25 June: Newcastle have appointed former Walsall manager Richard Money as Academy director. Money will oversee the development of the club's youngsters. The 52-year-old, who resigned from his job at the Bescot Stadium in April, has previously worked with young players at Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

24 June: Newcastle are ready to resist any attempt to lure James Milner away from St James' Park. The 22-year-old midfielder has repeatedly been linked with Liverpool and Aston Villa since the end of last season despite being under contract until 2011, although no cash bid has been received from either. 23 June: It is understood 21-year-old Aaron Lennon is on Keegan's wish-list, but that Spurs are not necessarily looking to offload him despite his lack of opportunities under new boss Juande Ramos. However, the North London club is one of those being linked with Blackburn winger David Bentley, and that could hold the key to the Magpies' chances of luring Lennon back north.

23 June: Shola Ameobi looks poised to move to West Brom after sources close to the player indicated the Newcastle striker was keen to play under Tony Mowbray. Mowbray is believed to be close to agreeing a deal in the region of £2.5-3m for the former England Under-21 player. (PA)
